then in the peak age of 2020 covid hit and i saw a influx of cosplay comps on youtube, i made my fair few fnaf cosplays (which have no documented proof)

the following halloween i made a Thanatos from Hades cosplay for a library event, big prop sythe and all, ive gotta revit it but i was proud at the time

i never got seriously into it till around 2022 when i made my sweetheart from Omori dress, was the first time i had seriously approached a cosplay with dedication and excitement for a halloween event i planned with friends

Alright I've been sitting on some of this stuff for over a year, but here's the first part in a series of cosplay breakdowns! Starting with my most ambitious part of my Zagreus cosplay - the skull pauldron

Now while maybe not the most complex bit of cosplay armor, nor the most detailed skull around, this was my first time working with foam and 3D pattern making in general. So I started off with a rough design mock up with paper, make a pattern with cardboard, then tested to see if the pattern worked with more cardboard (making slight adjustments as I went)

Next was breaking out the foam and starting to make the skulls for real. I had some trouble figuring out angles at first, and a few pieces didn't fit together perfectly, but it still came together in the end. The next skulls went a bit more smooth as I now knew what I was doing

Then some bulking out and detailing with foam clay! I used Lumin's Studio's grey foam clay, and would highly recommend it. I had some trouble deciding on how detailed/realistic to make the teeth and ended up using real dog skulls as reference and simplifying them

I had to prime them to paint - unfortunately plastidip is expensive and I had trouble using it on my other foam pieces, and the pauldron have a very complex shape, so I ended up sealing them with PVA glue. Not the best option but the only one I had at the time. But with that done, I could begin painting. Now, I should have done this after I'd attached the spine section, but I wasn't sure how to tackle that so I distracted myself from spine logistics by priming and painting (I just used acrylic paints)

Then the most difficult part - the spines and attaching them to the toga. My first idea was to make hollow 'bones' that would slot into each other and have internal wire so they're repositionable, but this ended up being far too bulky

In the end I scrapped these pieces and cut them up to make a more flat spine (hot glued onto a wire frame - I used copper wire that has been in my cupboard for 3 years). I had to build a mock shoulder to rest the pauldron on, and did my best to position the base in line with where the toga trim would sit

To make it stick to the toga I used a bit of velcro and two snap buttons in the side corners - the connecting point is also hidden by a material 'sleeve' to help keep it all in place, but I'll have more on that in my toga post. I needed to make sure it was detachable for transport and to be able to wash the toga after wearing it

Then another round of PVA glue and acrylic paint, a few coats of a matte sealer to get that good uniform bone texture over the whole thing, and some black poplin to cover the open base of the skulls, and they're done!

In the end, they're a bit more chunky than I would have liked, and the paint job could use a bit more shading to bring out the shape of the skulls a bit more, but overall I'm quite happy with them!

Introducing Adelaide v1, my first cosplay project in a little over 3 years.

I consider this the most minimal stage of this project, and plan to expand upon it at a later date, but first I'd like to review a bit about this version of things.

This project started as a broken crt I found on the side of the road. I'd been wanting to make a cosplay for my oc Adelaide, and figured that this would be as good a base as I was going to get. Note that as a crt the screen is somewhat convex.

I expected the most difficult part of this project to be creating the "illusion" of a screen, but in truth it was figuring out a way to wear a tv as a helmet. The final rig is a combination of floral foam, a roller skating helmet, and at least three kinds of glue. Its a bit heavier than I wanted, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice for the assurance that its going to last.

The screen is a pre-cut piece of acrylic with one-way privacy tint applied to it, and was ultimately the most painless part of this whole project.

On to the Issues

Like all projects Adelaide v1 is less than perfect. Some of these imperfections (such as the rattle can paint job) I have learned to live with. Others have easy fixes i need to get around to.

As a consequence of the acrylic screen being flat and the original crt being curved, there are noticable gaps around each edge. I think these could be easily masked with some well placed slivers of craft foam. You can also see that I had to peel off the original vinyl sticker that covered the button mechanisms, and will need to find something to replace it with. Ultimately these are minor.

Less minor is the present state of the neck hole, which is uncomfortable to say the least. Note the hoodie in the first pic. My initial plan was to simply sand this smooth but ive since acquired something to keep the rough edges away from my neck, I need only install it.

Ruby Rose (First outfit): Really fun and haven't done it in a while! Warm, but the dress is uncomfortable (Too tight on the shoulders + too short)

Xie Lian: Feel really pretty in it, have never taken to a con. Might be cold since the fabric is thin, there's a random stain despite us only wearing it twice?? Recognizable...

Blake Belladonna (V4 outfit): Kind of warm, haven't worn this one since 2022. Makeup is fun to do. Wig is annoying though. Could wear out nice fake nails! (We do also have her V1 outfit which we love it's just too cold for that)

Ai (YGO VRAINS): Have never taken to a con. Wig is fucking hell to wear but it's pretty (Always slips back because it's super heavy). Wouldn't be recognized. Might be cold.

Crona: Othello's been fronting more and she likes Crona. We like cosplaying Crona + would be warm enough. Unfortunately our mom fucking threw away Ragnarok a few years back LMFAO

Prompto Argentum: Feel really nice in Prompto but I'd be fucking freezing. I have cosplayed him in winter before though and I lived.

Ryne XIV: WOULD BE ABSOLUTELY FUCKING FREEZING BUT OUR RYNE IS ICONIC!!!!!!!

Joshua Kiryu: The Joshuanniversary is coming up.... Fun and comfortable but not recognizable especially without my friend cosplaying Minamimoto.

Ryoshu: I don't really like how I look as her but I could do fake blood... No odachi though so probably wouldn't be recognized.

Akane Kurashiki: Another iconic one! Warm as well! Super comfortable we love this one, but the dress shows the outline of our bra which is annoying. Can bring our DS with 999 like we did last time lol. Really cute!

Zero Drakengard: HOT (ATTRACTIVE) AS FUCK. PROBABLY THE COSPLAY IM SECOND HOTTEST IN (FIRST BEING MYSELF.) Wig + sleeve + cape are all a bit of an annoyance though. Recognizable! Cold, but I cosplayed her to winter con last year and lived.

Ene: Would literally be throwing this together completely last minute. There's a Kagepro meet on Sunday. Would not be my best work 😭😭😭

Natsuki DDLC: I've never played this game but my Natsuki cosplay is super cute. Would be fucking cold as hell though.

i've been into danganronpa since 2013-2014ish so i've seen a lot, i remember when there wasn't an official english translation for SDR2 and you could only watch fan translated gameplay, i remember when ultra despair girls came out, i remember when DRV3 and the danganronpa 3 anime were announced

my BIGGEST pet peeve in the entire danganronpa community is when Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc or Super Danganronpa 2 are referred to as Danganronpa "V1" or "V2"

they are NOT those.

we know that the V in Danganronpa V3 doesn't STAND for Version 3, it stands for 53. we learn that at the end of the game! it's a non canon danganronpa game that takes place in a universe where DR1, DR:UDG and SDR2 are fictional, it's WHY tsumugi can cosplay junko, because she's fictional.

so tell me why. WHY. are people INCORRECTLY REFERRING TO THE OTHER GAMES???

Incomings, WiPs and Doll Plans Update!

Here it is... I made up my mind regarding some plans, some current dolls, I got updates in for almost all my Incomings and ... well let's start. (What will happen with my Past!Allen Doll ... if you are curious ... scroll to the end).

First of all, I can announce the newest additions:

Asleep Eidolon Klaus will be Lavi's new shell. I am set on this idea, the head is super close to what I originally wanted for him and I feel better with this decision already.

As AE has an event ongoing in which you can add a head to your order ... Asleep Eidolon DingDang was on the list to be my choice for Johnny! I'm excited to build up the range of supporting characters.

Along with that I have new plans what resin will come in the next months...

Of course Johnny needs a body, for now I have my eyes set on the V1 from Fatemoons as it's a rather small MSD body and Johnny is smaller than Allen.

Then I fell for Xagadoll Nicole and Xagadoll Luca (both MSD variants) ... I will yet keep for myself for which characters I want to have them in case I change my mind. But I very rarely saw a doll and was "Okay, YOU ARE MOVING IN" within seconds in the last months, so I will take this motivation. Kinda feels nice to have someone on my wishlist again.

Howard Link - Charmdoll LaiKa

For Link there is none, Charmdoll is around 6 months so he has time.

Level 4 & Ling Tai Zhu Hong (Lavi's old Shell)

Level 4's head has arrived and the body was ordered, I decided for Coral Reef and here is the other announcement... I will keep Lavi's former shell. And will try my hands on it to turn it into a Level 3 Akuma. I know this is a quite insane project but building an Armor for a doll is a challenge that is not only sewing and I will gladly take it. I was pondering around how to make a Level 3 doll or sculpture anyways. I have to come up with a design for the Akuma though and I will keep the Doll as Lavi until his new shell is here & done so far.

Maple & Janet - LenaRuiiz Pallu

Maple got her body in, working on her is pushed back though as Kanda had priority and next I want to start on the biggest Cosplay Project I have left, but when that is roughly done I will see when I can fit her in. It's possible that I push her back even further as I want to redo Lenalee's uniform badly and there is another doll in progress... I will come to that in the last part.

Then Janet... long story short, the current Pallu batch is stuck in the mail since November and Lena now have her casted again, I am not even sure if I am in that batch (but as I paid her off I might be?) so, she will maybe happen this year, we will see.

Ally (Past!Allen) & Adam - Conarium Wuhan

You maybe have read my former entries about this certain character and the dilemma I am in right now. To be honest he is my absolute favorite doll because of the fanfic I am writing, and still working on DAILY(!). Being crushed by the fact this character basically doesn't exist was hard. Well, there is a past version of Allen but he looks completely different (and there is too much open about him so I will refer from making the "new" Past!Allen into a doll or plan anything regarding that as I have some doubts, I have to wait until details are clearer).

I have Allen from that AU as doll. I have the Millennium Earl (healed) variant from that AU as Progress doll and I still love the character...

so I will - for now - keep him as my AU Variant, he is now more OC than a true character from the series but I just love him too much as character to scrap him.

For the Earl/Adam (aka healed Mana), I got the head last year and ordered the body in November. I have asked Stacy yesterday if there is an update and Conarium just got back to her and the body will shipped next week.

So for now after the cosplay (or maybe inbetween) Adam will get priority in doll regards as I want my AU Family to be complete as soon as possible.

So I want to show off some of my Pony Town cosplays because I just feel like doing so. This first batch is just going to be various one off cos' that I've made over the years that I haven't made any others that would justify a tag ingame. Some of these are old and probably needs an update while others are ones that I've made more recently.

Gohis. While I do have have Deltarune and DBZ tags in Pony Town, I'd rather just stick this one here. Made this in 2022 to match my pfp, if that wasn't already obvious.

Aku. My oldest cos coming from 2017. As you can see here, I have actually updated him over the years for he is one of my beloveds.

Chuck Quizmo. He's the newest cos in this bunch as I made him a few months ago. Also don't mind that one green dot, didn't realize it was there until after I finished writing this post. It's fixed now.

Fern. I originally made her back in 2018 and updated her around 2019. Might update her once more.

Zolo. Yes this is a 4Kids One Piece dub cos. If you seen the clip, you can hear this image. This cos only works ingame. Made in 2022.

Hawkodile. Made him in 2019 when Unikitty was a fandom that you could see a fair sized group of on PT.

Hermes v1. Originally made in 2018 that I've touched up a little sometime in 2021(20?).

Tight Pants (Leslie Hall). Truly an icon. Made in 2022. Might update her.

Linebeck. One of my beloveds, and I can't believe that it took me until 2022 to make him in PT.

Lord Betrayus. Another beloved. Made him in 2021. Fun fact, this isn't the first Betrayus cos I've made. The first one I did was in Creatures of Sonaria of all places.

Lord Dominator. Made her in 2022. Meant to be a show accurate cos. Actually, a lot of my cos' are made to be accruate to the source material, no matter how difficult it may be. There are a few exceptions though.

Lord Kogane. Holy fuck it's another one of my beloveds, but this time from a show that I literally have not seen anyone else have a cos for. I might evetually make one for Tengu, but I still have flashbacks to when I was trying to find reference pictures for Kogane. Obviously made in 2022.

Mira. A 2019 cos that I have updated since then. She might need another one though.

Mohawk Cat. I struggled a lot while making this one, and those reasons aren't very obvious from the final product. 2022.

Nezuko. Can't remember if she was December 2021, or Janurary 2022. Either way, I might update her, but I really don't want to either.

One Winged HHGreg. He is the perfect fusion. Very much December 2021. I have him fliped here because you can't see the wing the other way. Also if you know the video, you can here this image.

Pink Sheep. Woah, another 2017 cos! I have updated him, but a part of me wants to update him again.

Pinkie Pie. That's right, this is my only cannon MLP character cos on PT. Made her in 2017 and I have updated her, but only barely.

Rosemary. High Guardian Spice Abridged made me want to make a HGS cos. Another 2022 cos. Possibly might make more of these cursed beings.

Samurai Jack. This dude has literally never been touched since 2017. Haven't played as him since then, and never been updated. Absloute raw 2017 PT energy. If I wanted to work on him, I wouldn't even bother with this relic and just make an entire new pony.

TBH. Last but not least, autism creature. Technically only works ingame with a custom expression just to move the eye highlights up, but still works just as fine in the editor. 2022.

3 - moon, so much. Like, I have a little moon symbol tattooed on my left wrist and that's the only non-text tattoo I have, if that says anything there...

15 - so far the highlight of my year is I remade one of my favorite cosplays and I am SO much happier with the new version of it. V1 has a special place in my heart due to the circumstances under which I made her, but v2 is just... everything tbh.

22 - in general, I do not, lol. I'm an indoor cat of a person.

Hiii I'm making a cosplay of V1 from Ultrakill

This is going to be quite a challenging project for me as I've never made a cosplay like this before, prepare to see a lot of trial and error! I only discovered Ultrakill a month ago but it's quickly become one of my favourite things and I must cosplay the robot.

Okay, well. For what is worth I'm 100% sure you're wrong, even just by thinking about the process when they first designed the characters. I remember seeing an interview with Monty saying that they were careful to create something not too hard to cosplay and were in general mindful. (I know Yang's outfit is revealing, but that doesn't necessarly mean sexualised, besides we got the whole thing with her being more than meets the eyes yada yada, and she's the only one anyway because if you tell me V1 ruby's outfit is sexy i will laugh xD)

I think that the reason behind this choice, both in the JL movie and the merch is simply because they're out there to find new fans. Keeping the original ones is more benefitial to a new person that after the movie, or maybe seeing that cool Good Smile Company figure exposed, will go check out the show. It gives more familiarity and continuity in comparison to using, idk, V4 ones.

I mean, let's imagine they'd use V5 outfits. The whole discussion about where in continuity the movie would happen would still be there, maybe worse, plus probably a big discussion about characterization because where are they psychologically? Does it match with the volume they seem to be from? Would you watch Yang, in her cool V6 outfit and arm and everything acting like her V1 self? It would feel weird. What if she acts like in V6 then? We'd basically spoil a lot to possible new fans, or just disappoint them when they'd start the show and not immediately recognize the characters that they grew to like.

I think that it's important to remember that they're not just outfits, they're character designs, and they're there to present characters. And that's what they're doing now.

Let's also remember that they're just starting out with the cool figures, it makes sense that they're starting from the beginning before moving to newer designs.

That got much longer than I intended, sorry about that. But yeah, as much as you can in general disagree or not like the choices (which is fine), I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that the possible sexualisation isn't a factor in this case.

I was thinking more about why so much merch centers around RWBY's Vol 1-3 outfits and I'd really like to be proven wrong about this thought.

It isn't because those designs are more easily sexualized is it?

Diluc

Absolute pretty boy who has braincells, but only if Kaeya is not there. In his mind, Kaeya’s presence makes his room loose 40% of their common sense. He can’t prove it just yet but he’s working on it. He majors in accounting but also has a minor in marketing, logistics’ management, fia- he majors everything business related. He’s going to become the next Elon Musk through smarts or by getting the competition drunk. There can be no contest if he’s the only candidate. He’s actually a hard working guy that overworks and stresses way too much. You have daily “Diluc recharge” evenings where he just hangs onto you while you go through your day.

“Don’t fucking talk to me until I’ve had my coffee,” except there is no coffee - he drinks grape juice out of juice boxes and his only energy boost is when he meets up with you - and that’s his constant mood. So he usually only hangs around you and Jean, since she has childhood friend status and is actually an angel. By default, Lisa is added and Diluc doesn’t mind her but if he see’s Kaeya, it’s full on war paint mode. If he's not busy with work or studies, he's usually with you either in your dorm or his apartment.

He has a fanclub and he seriously hates it and tries to do everything in his power to get Ningguang to take it down. Shouldn’t this be against his rights? But she refuses for whatever reason and makes a whole speech about free will. No matter what he does, someone manages to take a picture and it get’s printed in the university’s newspaper. The only bonding time he has with Kaeya is every Monday, where they collect and burn all the universities newspapers before anyone can get their hands on it. You always bring marshmallows to make smores during their arson activities.

“When I graduate I’m going to burn this school down to the ground. That’s not a threat it’s a promise.”

Ningguang

Is secretly the leader of the Diluc fanclub - not that she likes Diluc, she’s in a questionable platonic poly marriage with you and Beidou - but it was the easiest way to gain funds for the student council. Which she is the president of, so rip Diluc the fanclub stays. Ruthless business woman I tell you. But she can run in heels so her danger factor rises by at least 20%.

Majors in social sciences and law but more specifically the political science & government. She saw the Imperial State Crown that the Queen of England wears and says yes, that’s mine now. If she’s not with Beidou and you planning on “how to infiltrate the state government just for lols”, then she’s with Keqing, Ganyu, and Zhongli discussing student council things. Should they or should they not tell the student body that they can see everyone’s search results? Sit back and relax as the school goes into chaos. 

She’s probably the scariest person on campus No, she is the scariest person on campus. She’s the scariest person on campus. But secretly she’s popping 20 aspirins just to make it through a night. She has the digestive system of steel. She still holds the title of "seriously do not try and beat her in a drinking game it's never going to happen" and that's her proudest achievement in life but sadly she can’t put it on her resume. Kaeya is still trying to beat her out of spite but so far it hasn't been working. You’re seriously concerned for her when she get’s challenged but Beidou gives you a way-to-hard slap on the back and cheers her on. If Ninngguang somehow get’s alcohol poisonings she’ll somehow find away to make a profit out of it.

Kaeya

One day he chugged too much mouth wash, passed out, and somehow woke up in university majoring in law. His idea is that if he is apart of the law, he can therefore stand above it. To be fair, his only goal in life is to say “I am the manager” and he can go live the rest of his life in bliss or as a hermit. He’s secret best friends with you but wouldn't be caught dead beside you. He will stab a bitch if you ever get hurt but will still trip you on the way home. Seriously, you have no idea why people find him attractive. Your guess is it’s the eye patch or the clap of his ass cheeks that keeps alerting everyone.  

He’s apart of the newspaper club and if anyone asks: No, he has no idea who keeps taking all the newspapers and burns them in the back of the campus. Originally, he joined because he was nosy and needed to join some type of club for his resume. He sometimes feels bad for his junior assistant Amber because he keeps tricking her and says that Diluc is secretly a demon that is trying to steal all the jobs and is apart of the lizard government hell bent on eradicating the human race. He even brought out a whiteboard for this joke, he’s dedicated to his job ok? 

The type of guy to try and be humble and say his work is “okay” but will choke a bitch if anyone agrees. He tends to leave everything last minute and says that it’s his drug since actual drugs could land you one year in prison and a maximum penalty of $2,000. You have to awkwardly hold in your concerned mother head shake when you see him speed running his assignment literally right when the professor is walking around to check if students finished. 

“I was taught how to lead not to read.”

Mona

Broke wallet #2. Zhongli is broke wallet #1 but Childe simps for him so is he really a broke wallet at this point? In this essay, I Mona Megistus, will explain why I have the rights to the title “Broke Wallet #1″...

Believes that astrology should be an actual career path but refuses to take astronomy as her major. I can read the stars not a textbook that tells me how to calculate the mass of the sun divided by the fucks I give. Instead she went into Philosophy and cries to Albedo, who is an actual prodigy genius- sir lend some braincells to everyone else please?, that her professor keep turning her paper down because “star reading” is not an academic source.

Fischl wants her to join the occult club because, surprisingly, Mona is very good at telling people’s fates through her crayon sketch ouija board. She thinks first year Fischl is cute but is put off by the cosplay roleplay that she has going on. She would join except that stupid hat wearing gremlin in her lit class would make fun of her if he found out.

You gave her half your lunch one day and bought her a doughnut "because she seemed upset" and "out of the goodness of your heart" whatever the hell that means. She thinks you pensioned it but once that thought comes she takes a bite. Poison from a doughnut is not the worst way to go out, classes are hard enough. She’s waiting for the lord to strike her down anyways.

Venti

Slept through most of highschool and people question how he got into university. He’s a music major (wow how fucking original is that), and if anyone asks him to serenade someone or just do anything, he’ll do it for the right price. Or if you buy him alcohol because he still keeps getting ID checked. He’s banking on Kaeya actually becoming a lawyer or being on good terms with Diluc so he can finally stop being arrested for looking like a toddler.

Takes one step into classes and quickly nopes out and goes back to bed. Professors have no idea how he hasn't dropped out or failed. He just has some god given talent. He does whine at you to pretty pretty please with a cherry on top tutor him because you're such an angel and would never leave your poor but awesome best friend hanging right? He needs to get this essay down but how he is suppose to explain how the number 10 is symbolic and connects to the universe or the meaning of life. Do you think he can just say it’s apart of his culture and make up some random myth to pretend it looks like he knows what he’s doing? 

He’s honestly going with the flow and put his brain on the back burner all of highschool and only now realizes wait, I actually have to use my brain?

He’s been banned from most club chats since Venti has the no chill card. Someone says “lol I look ugly today.” and he’ll respond "yup, you look like a cow." and he get’s banned. Zhongli keeps a speed run timer on his phone just to document these occasions.

Childe

An actual dumbass that somehow does well. He eats sandwiches with the crust off, this heathen. Surprisingly he’s studying to become a physical therapist but most of his experience has come from breaking his own bones. You’re scared how he's going to be if he actually becomes a therapist. If he'll make bets with his patients or try to one up whatever crazy injury they get into. Everything is a challenge to him that sometimes the best way to deal with Childe is to knock him out. 

This man really knows the way to a Zhongli’s woman's heart. Through micro transactions. Mona saw him accidently drop $20 and just shrugged and walked off. She has never been both spiritually and physically offended in her life. She did take the $20 though. As much as you hate leeching on Chile when he’s basically a walking wallet that probably uses bills as tissue paper, you can’t help but give him puppy eyes while planning on how to get into his will. If he even plans on having one, he might honestly write “whoever wins in a gladiator style duel in my funeral’s tournament, they will get my fortune.”. 

Any sport the university offers Childe is probably in it. Which is how he met Zhongli, challenged him to a fight, proceeded to have his ass handed to him, got a backhanded compliment, and screamed to you he was in love and how he found his soulmate. He's secretly very sappy and has cried and watched every Disney and Pixar movie at least 28 times.

God if it isn’t Scaramouche, it’s Childe that ruins the aesthetic. This is why I hate you. Why do you people enable me like this, it isn’t even good. This is pretty much a @ yourself moment and I vibe hard with Venti. This entire post was just to make a joke about the clap of Kaeya’s ass cheeks alerting the guards.
